Shih Tzu Club SuperStakes
The competition, open to all exhibitors, runs from 1st October to 30th September each year. The purpose of the competition is to select 45 dogs to compete in a prestigious Stakes style contest held in November each year, the first having taken place in 2006. Points are scored in Crufts qualifying classes at every Championship show except Crufts. Crufts show is not included in the scoring. Points are also scored in the equivalent classes at both Shih Tzu Club Open shows. Points are awarded as follows: 1st place - 5 points, 2nd place - 3 points, 3rd place - 1 point. Points can be won in all qualifying classes entered. There are no extra points for any wins such as CC's. In the event of several dogs having the same score around the qualifying line at the end of the competition year, a draw will be made at the Club Championship show prior to the final Stakes Contest. The draw winners will be invited to the Final, those unsuccessful (and if necessary others further down the line) will be declared reserves and invited should a qualifier be unable to attend the Final. All 45 qualifiers enter the final contest on an equal footing.
The 45 finalists will be separated to compete in three groups - Puppy, Intermediate and Open. Finalists less than 18 months of age on 30th September will compete in the Puppy group for the title of Josephine Johnson Top Puppy, whether or not they hold a CC. Finalists over 18 months of age but not having won a CC in their career will compete in the Intermediate group for the title of Shih Tzu Club Top Intermediate and finalists that are both over 18 months of age and the holder of 1 or more CC's in their career will compete in the Open group for the title of Shih Tzu Club Top Open. The winners of the 3 groups will then compete in a Grand Finale to decide the Shih Tzu Club Top Shih Tzu of the Year.
The Shih Tzu Club Committee are the final arbiters of the competition and may amend the rules as they deem necessary.
