Thank you for the lovely entry. Shih tzu is a breed close to my heart and how pleasing it was to still find the classic, sturdy type which is sadly getting rare in most parts of the world where the attention seems to have shifted more to glamour in various forms. Especially bitches demonstrated such a quality that the future is safe. The windy condition could not be helped but as all dogs were presented in correct, natural coats, nothing was lost. |

This was my third time awarding CCs in the breed. I was most pleased to find the correct classic type and shape, but noticed now quite a few fronts that could be better. Some lovely dogs were also getting slightly too low to ground and given the longish grass condition of the ring, it caused some challenges in the movement, especially front movement. Overall I was most pleased with my class winners, and especially bitches were full of quality with many exciting dogs surely gaining their titles in the near future. |
Southern Counties 2012 | Date : 1st June 2012 |
This was my second appointment to judge Shih Tzus in UK. The quality of the dogs shown under me was excellent, and so was the general showmanship. With the modern tendencies of exaggerations creeping in in many breeds, including Shih Tzus especially on the Continent, I was very pleased to find so many classic and sound Shih Tzus. You the breeders have done excellent job and the legacy of Shih Tzu can well continue. Temperaments were superior and soundness first-rate. Thank you for the day and all the best for the future. |
