My thanks to the exhibitors for their entry and to my 2 stewards for an efficiently run day.
There still is a great variation in quality and size in the breed, mouths in the young dogs are much improved on 2 years ago. The fault of most concern at the moment is rising top lines which are very much in the majority, hopefully a lot of the puppies will improve as they mature, as the bodies can grow at different rates. But breeders must be selective when choosing which stock to breed from, remember dogs like humans can only reproduce themselves and their forbears. The other feature which concerns me are the eyes. When I came into the breed in 1977 eyes were large and round and contributed so much to the expression, dogs such as Ch.Santosha Sun King and Ch. Lhakang Cassius and my own Ch.Sunny Boy, these eyes I now believe came in with the Peke cross, now 50 or so years ago and with time the influence of those genes has diminished and we cannot stop the passage of time. Although small, eyes were in general dark and only a few showing some white.
Presentation as usual was generally of the highest order.
