Driffield 2010 Critique
#1
Thank you everyone for a lovely entry and for keeping cheerful in such adverse conditions. I had two excellent stewards whose company I really enjoyed. The standard of the entry I considered to be of generally good quality which made it easier and more enjoyable to judge. The size of the dogs was more uniform than in the past and the type had also evened out. There were very few incorrect heads and just a few with shoulders behind their ears. These comments are indicative of the dogs I saw on the day. Agree with me or not, at least most seem to understand what I’m looking for in a Shih Tzu. My concern for the general direction of the breed remains. Movement was difficult to assess as you all knew the state of the ring.

1[sup]st[/sup] Wareing, Roberts – Evalove Bella the Ball at Katonier – I really liked this one as soon as I touched it. Beautiful head and expression, excellent shape and balance, good tail. Hind movement could be better, more exercise would improve things. I think both 1 & 2 are very good for the breed.

2[sup]nd[/sup] Goodwin – Chelhama Strictly a Dream – Very similar to 1 but smaller throughout. Lovely head and expression, shape and balance. I think both 1 & 2 are very good for the breed.

1[sup]st[/sup] Symonds – Matsonic Trigga an Illusion at Symaraju – A young bitch that I thought was very beautiful, lovely head and expression, nice size, lovely balance, very good tail.
