I must admit the topknots are just a bit too exaggerated now. It detracts from the balance of the shih tzu - with the head and the tail meant to be similar in height.
I thought Stevie was one of the best balanced dogs there.
John - yes, its a shame that the Kennel Club won't film some of our breed classes/or even the challenge lineup - and even more of a shame that when someone else tries to do it, the Kennel Club stops them!
I agree, but when the tail is lying flat on the back, there isn't much chance of balance between the head and the tail to begin with! LOL! Which reminds me of a question I've been meaning to ask of this group. What do you mean by "tail set" in the U.K.? To me, it means how the tail is set on to the croup plus how it is held above the back. A few months ago, I saw a pic of a U.S. bitch that was quite lovely, but her tail wasn't held high -- rather it rested on her back. Several people commented that she had such a lovely tail set. One breeder here told me that my definition of tail set was incorrect. That tail set merely means how the tail is attached to the body and has nothing to do with the way it's carried. Not trying to cause trouble, just trying to learn!
