3 Counties 2011 - Critique

I would like to thank all the exhibitors. I considered it a privilege to go over your dogs. I was very

happy with my line ups, and delighted with my CC and Res CC winners. Careful consideration leads

me to ask Shih Tzu enthusiasts to consider, that we should always be aiming for a dog that is not too

tall on leg. It is the short leg, slightly longer back, correct head and tail carriage than gives the correct

portions and balance of the Shih Tzu. To welcome the short leg, laid back shoulders and rear

angulation are essential, thus allowing extension to front movement and propulsion from the

rear, giving us a galleon in full sail. A description of correct movement, from the past.



MPD (6 Entries) Abs: 1



1st: JONES Mr R D & Mrs J E Cedarhythe Majestic Wave. Excelled in movement. Reached out

forward and propelled from the rear. Level top line. Excellent tail set and carriage. Lively and

confident.

2ndUNKLEY Mr & Mrs C J Santosha Phoenix Knight for Kirstaman. Solid deep gold. Excellent

expression, large dark eye. Large nose leather level with the bottom of the eye. Mouth excellent.

Domed skull. Laid back shoulder. Correct proportions.



3rd:MEDLOW Mr T & Mrs A Inishfendra Teddy Edward



PD (6 Entries) Abs: 1



1st:TURNER Mrs B E Cwmaur Dance with Givenchy. Gold and white, good sized puppy, with

large nose leather and eyes. Correct expression. Overall balance good, held on the move. Good bone

and well-muscled. Moved out very well.



2nd:BARRON Mr W & Mrs D Maitreya Black Jack. Solid black with a lovely dark eye. Very similar in

type to 1. Not as positive on the move as 1.



3rd:HALL, Mrs P & HALL Miss M Yakee Jerry At Trick





JD (5 Entries) Abs: 2



1st:CROSSLEY Mr & Mrs D Santosha Sandcastle. DCC. Beautiful, yet masculine gold and white dog.

Skull large, well domed. Lovely soft large dark eye. Strong wide jaw. Dentition perfect. Neck and tail

carriage balanced. Deep chest. Shoulders well laid back. Level top line. Fabulous rear angulation,

therefore sailed round the ring. Quality shone through.



2nd:SYMONDS Mr C J & Mrs M J Symaraju Kicking Up A Storm. Pleasing head and expression,

excellent jaw and dentition. Not sure about his rear movement on this occasion.



3rdAVIES Mrs R & Mr D.A Navross Mavericks Red Sky





PGD (5 Entries) Abs: 0



1st:BROWN Mr S & Mrs S Thaisu Follow The Sun to Rossvale. Solid gold dog, took me back in

time. Out moved the rest of the class. Showed correct powerful movement. Carried his head and tail

well, held his balance faultlessly on the move. Oriental masculine expression. Large dark eye.

Temperament friendly and outgoing, a joy!



2nd: QUICK Mr J & Mrs J A Minfaa Scaramanga (jw).Different in type to 1. Beautiful coat, presented

perfectly. Pleasing head and expression. Good bone and well-muscled. Moved with confidence.



3rd:STEVENS Mr N & Mrs S Peekin Tsemo-Tu





LD(11 Entries) Abs: 2

A very strong class of good quality dogs.



1st:MARKS Mrs J S Tansingh Double Jepardy. RDCC. Gold and white dog, a very all round, correct,

honest dog. Expression good, strong and masculine. Strong wide jaw. Good size eye and nose,

correctly placed in a large domed skull. Broad ribcage , well let down in the forechest. Well-muscled

and boned. Moved holding balance, showing full pad.



2nd:CROSSLEY Mr & Mrs D Santosha Thunderbolt. Black and white, very strong dog, with a very

outgoing temperament. Many positive attributes. Well balanced. Well muscled. Excellent free

movement, beautiful flow on the move. Preferred the softer expression of 1.



3rd:YORKE Mrs F Middletune Wildest Dream JW





OD (4 Entries) Abs: 0



1st:Mrs J & Mr T MARACHOWSKI Elsing Bat-Hang At Passernomen. Well presented gold and white

dog. Excellent large head. Warm, gentle yet masculine expression. Deep chest, good spring of rib, short

loin. Level top line, tail set high, and carried in good teapot handle shape. Lost out in the challenge

because his movement was not consistent.



2nd:STANGELAND Mrs M Weatsom Pole Position. Similar in type to 1. Slightly lighter in construction

and not quite as masculine as 1.



3rd:CROSSLEY Mr & Mrs D Santosha Dante's Inferno







MPB (5 Entries) Abs: 1



1st: BROWN Mr S & Mrs S Rossvale Touch the Stars. Black and white feminine bitch. Full of fun. Pretty

expression, correct jaw and nose placement, good stop. Balance excellent. Correct shoulder placement.

Deep chest for her proportions. Movement extended well to the front and rear.



2nd:MEDLOW Mr T & Mrs A Inishfendra Ellen Ripley. Gold and white bitch with a very pleasing

expression. Good mouth, good dome to the skull. Excellent dark eye. Correct construction reflected in

her movement. Moved very well, with confidence. Obviously was enjoying her day.



3rd:NOBLETT Mrs S Senobles Thriller





PB (7 Entries) Abs: 0



1st:ANDERTON Mrs J R Pekoe Star Attraction. BP. 9 month old gold and white bitch. Exuded

confidence. Presentation perfect. Excellent dentition and wide jaw. Very well padded muzzle.

Expression feminine and correct. Shoulders well placed. Rib cage deep and barrel shaped. Fabulous top

line.



2nd:ACE Mrs G Matsonic Full Of Grace. Red and white, pretty bitch, also sturdy, well boned and

muscled. I loved her correct construction all through. A pleasure on the table. Movement was difficult

to assess, she was bouncy, too much exuberance on the day.



3rd:GREGORY Mrs P Marpalyn Amber Queen





JB (5 Entries) Abs: 0



1stUNKLEY Miss K Kayasim Roo Bee Roo. RBCC. Beautiful brindle bitch. Exquisite expression.

Fabulous dark eye and pigmentation. Skull proportions excellent. Lovely length of neck. Fore chest

wide and deep, reflected in the rib cage. Correct loin. Rear angulation good. Ample bone. Moved

with rear end propulsion.



2nd:RITCHIE Mrs P A Laurmerand Shine A Light. Solid black bitch. Similar in type to 1, in all aspects.

Less finished on this occasion, another quality bitch to watch in the future.



3rd:MARKS Mrs J S Tansingh All You Need Is Love





PGB (7 Entries) Abs: 1



1stIFFEY Mrs M. S. L. Marhilway She's Got The Edge. Well-presented, gold and white bitch. Excelled

in skull and expression. Excellent mouth, good sized nose leather and nostrils, placement and stop, very

feminine. Proportions and balance correct, held it altogether on the move.



2nd:ANDERTON Mrs J R Pekoe Too Good To Miss JW.Gold and white, won her placing on her

freedom of movement, she flowed around the ring with an arrogant, confident gait, with not a care in

the world. Oozed with what should be typical Shih Tzu temperament. Very pretty feminine skull

proportions and expression.



3rd:STEVENS Mr N & Mrs S Peekin Suri-Tu



LB (5 Entries) Abs: 0



1st:WILLIAMS-WEGMANN Mrs V F D Keytor Love Song For Essvana. Red and white bitch with a very

large dark eye, and nose contrasting dramatically with her white mask. Expression feminine and

correct. Moved well, showed full pad. Held an excellent profile on the move.



2nd:STANGELAND Mrs M Weatsom Never Say Never. Gold and white bitch slightly smaller in type,

very nicely put together. Beautifully proportioned and balanced. Construction excellent. Neck arched

and strong. Shoulder laid back. Tail set and carriage excellent. Good ribcage and chest. Nicely

angulated rear. A little less mature than 1.



3rd:STEVENS Mr N & Mrs S Peekin Zyri Zhang-Tu





OB (5 Entries) Abs: 1



1st:BROWN Mr S & Mrs S Rossvale She's A Model. Gold and white bitch, who demanded her place.

Beautiful, and she knows it! Held her poise which gave her BCC,BOB. Skull large, but very feminine.

Head and tail carried perfectly. Extended, free movement front and rear. Deep full ribcage. Muscled

and well boned. Presentation Excellent.



2nd:BARRON Mr W & Mrs D Maitreya Calypso JW. Solid black bitch, with similar proportions to 1.

Head and expression very good. Similar to 1, in many attributes, but less finish and poise.
