At very short notice (10 mins) I was delighted to have the opportunity to judge this show as, unfortunately, Mr R Owen was unable to fulfil his engagement owing to car problems, and wish to thank the exhibitors for accepting my decisions in such a sporting manner.

A good entry, at least the weather was kinder than it was the last time I judged here (do we remember the snow?) Having not judged the breed for sometime due to illness I was surprised at the variation in size & type of the exhibits. There was such a range in size in some classes I thought I was judging AV Shih Tzu. The Standard is quite clear on the requirements & if followed rather than taking the fashionable route exhibits overall will improve. We should breed to the Standard not try & adapt it to our breeding. There were plenty of quality exhibits who no coubt will have their day. Presentation was excellent.
