Start off with thanking the club for this. I thank the exhibitors for their entries. may I take the opportunity to thank the many people that have shown their beautiful shih tzu under me for many years. I am making this my last judging appointment in awarding CC’s.
I must say from my last appointment in 2016 which I found quality was not good and now I have to say even worse.!!!
Now the horror story, have never seen so many head the size tennis balls! So, we lose the features of the head the eyes suffered the most.
1. Lots of little piggy eyes and even showing white.
2. Beautiful eyes but nearly touching each other.
One shih tzu I had to take a double take have never judge anything like it very long legs and the body was shorter than the height if front and hind angulation had been correct it would have fallen over itself. It is so difficult to get the correct balance but that has gone out of the window.
I did feel insulted by some dogs smelling not just urine but ammonia.

Not seen any Shih Tzus for two years. They are not good. Anyone can fault judge from outside, but its a different thing inside the ring.

Thank you to the Kennel Club for the invitation, to the exhibitors for the super entry and to two excellent stewards. Now, for what I was presented with.
To the person who said my BOB was tall and to the ones who said he was too long & low, please read the standard. The state of the breed is not good. They should have a broad rounded head and large round eyes. These were in the minority. This, with the correct balance of body, make a Shih Tzu.
My top winners were from Scandinavia, but they are clever breeders & if you look at their pedigrees they have over 60% British breeding. So where have we gone wrong?
