based on what they saw on the day of the show.
| For my second shih Tzu breed club open show, I was delighted with the entry, and I would like to thank all the exhibitors who chose to bring their dogs under me. Many thanks also go to the officers and committee for inviting me and my very efficient steward. I found the entry somewhat challenging with a big variation of shape and size and I really had to think about the key characteristics that define the breed for me. Quite a few exhibits had short ribcages and I do think that shoulders and fronts in general are an area where there could be some improvement. Heads were generally good along with rear angulation and coat presentation. Overall quality throughout the bitch classes was higher than in the males, however the open dog class was very competitive, which did reflect in both BIS & RBIS coming from that class. Both veterans were a credit to the longevity of the breed and the puppies clearly showed promise and I had some very tight decision to make there. |

| 1st | Marhilway Driving Edge At Jacquinta JW | Deep gold & white, an exuberant dog with a lovely temperament, attractive head features, good width to his underjaw, correct broad skull, large round dark eyes, black nose with open nostrils. Correct body length, good tailset & carriage, good rear angulation, already a good depth and width of ribcage for age. Moved well, BPD. |

| 1st | Mifcahs The Young Pretender | Gold & white of good substance for age, nice head with broad skull, correct eye shape, good square muzzle, large underjaw with good mouth. Level topline, high tailset & good carriage, good rear angulation and front is OK, enough width of chest. He moved well, keeping his shape at all times. |
| 2nd | Helios Sweet Addict | 8m/o very exuberant dog, liked his body shape, correct width & length of ribcage, lovely neckline with head carried proudly balanced by a good tailset & carriage. He has the darkest of eyes, which are of correct shape and size, good pigment and good mouth. |

| 1st | Shenleyvale Orange Juicy For Juhua | 20m/o Black &white with an attractive head, lovely temperament, good square muzzle, good round eyes. Liked his length of body, level topline & tailset. He has good shoulder placement, although would like a little broader ribcage. Moved well with excellent drive from his well angulated rear. |

| 1st | Santosha Dark Secret With Coursani | 12m/o black presenting a typical overall shape and balance, broad skull, wide underjaw, correct nose placement and muzzle shape, eye shape could be slightly rounder. Good lay of shoulder & return of upper arm, level topline ending on a good tailset, balanced in movement and in abundant coat. Liked him a lot. |
| 2nd | Tameron Mr Gold Xcess | Gold & white with what I can only describe as a happy face, good rounded skull, correct width of underjaw, eyes are large and round, although would prefer slightly darker. He has a level topline, good tailset, and although would prefer better lay of shoulder, he drives well from the rear. |

| 1st | Santosha The Winter Soldier At Honeyshuchun | Liked the size of this Gold & white who has an attractive head, wide and short muzzle, black nose, good underjaw, correct ear set, rounded skull. He is balanced throughout, has a good ribcage, tail set on high and good rear angulation allowing him to move with drive. Still very much in puppy coat |

| 1st | Elzu Piper Arrow | 3y/o B&W, good head shape. Liked his overall shape with balances head carriage & tail. Also liked his expression with lovely underjaw, large dark eyes, would prefer nostrils to be slightly more open. He has a good spring of ribs & enough depth of chest, forearm could be straighter. Moved well around the ring. |

| 1st | Buttons Dream A Dream | Solid gold with correct eye shape & size, good short & wide muzzle, good nose placement, wide underjaw, level lips. Would like more width throughout, but he has correct body to height ratio, a level topline, a high set tail that is well carried and his movement is balanced. |
| 2nd | Stardante Han Sum Model with Simbalove | Liked the size of this 3y/0 Gold & White, broad and rounded skull, short muzzle, eyes shape is good although would prefer darker colour. Would like a better mouth and a better lay of shoulders, good tailset and in good coat condition. |

| 1st | Ch. Shalehan Yasheron | Gold & white of good substance, good head with a correct breadth of skull, good large round eye, black nose, good underjaw. He has enough lay of shoulders, a level topline, ribcage is wide, deep and extends well back, correct tailset, in good coat and he moves with drive. |
| 2nd | Santosha Polar Star | B&W whose overall shape & size I liked, balanced head & tail carriage giving that typical shape. Broad skull, good eye shape, wide & short muzzle, would like tighter lips. Drives well from the rear but could do with slightly more laid shoulders at the front. |

Chanikos Living The Dream At Ethelsmead | Probably the most difficult class of the day, where the quality was high and all 5 would be worthy winners, but I also had to really decide what was more important.Gold with white blazing on head and tail, would not want him any taller, but so well proportioned, fabulous tailset and carriage, level topline, ribcage is wide and extends well back, good loin that continues on with the width of the ribcage, enough neck to proudly carry the head and enough lay of shoulder to match the rear angulation, making his movement very balanced and very typical. He has a lovely head with a typical oriental expression, good square muzzle, correct large eyes of good dark colour and was presented in good coat. BD & BIS |
| 2nd | Ch. Ashmakin Bodacious Smooth for JaxTzu JW ShCM ShCEX | - Gold & sable who has a lovely overall body shape, dark eye, correct depth of chin, good nose placement. Good front & rear angulation, ribcage extends well back, level topline, tail is set on high and well carried. He moves well with plenty of drive and shows his rear pads fully. Pipped to the post by 1 whose width of ribcage I just preferred. RBD & RBIS. |

| 1st | Ch. Cremefern Sweet Talkin Guy JW ShCM VW | Gold & white parti, what an active little man! Lovely head & expression, good broad and rounded skull, good dark pigment, good eye shape. I liked his size, he had a good tailset & carriage, the front is ok, balancing a good rear angulation which he uses to advantage by really driving on the move. Good spring or ribs and they extend well back. In lovely coat. BVIS |

| 1st | Quingshui Easter Surprise | Gold & White parti with a lovely overall shape & balance, correct lay of shoulders, ribcage extends well back, level topline finishing on a high set tail. Good skull, round dark eyes, good square muzzle, open nostrils and a correct wide underjaw giving the desired expression. She moved well with drive in rear and showing full pads. |
| 2nd | Tzusweet Black Pearl | Lovely expression on this black who has a broad skull, good eye shape, correct wide underjaw with chin, good open nostrils and a well-positioned nose. Level topline, well coupled with no narrowing at the waist, good tail set and carriage. The undercoat is a little fluffy at the moment, but that should settle with age. Moved steadily. |

| 1st | Cremefern Pretty Gorgeous | Liked the overall balance on this 11m B&W. Attractive head, good length of muzzle, correct rounded skull shape, good ear set, wide underjaw and good bite and dentition. Neck carries the head proudly and flows into well laid shoulders, level topline, ribcage is well sprung and has depth, tail is set on high. Moved with drive. BPB & BPIS. |

Santosha Silhouette | Gold & white who has a good head, lovely dark eye, good skull shape, lovely mouth, good muzzle with open nostrils and definite stop, attractive white blaze on forehead. Would like a little more width and depth of ribcage and chest. Moved well from the side with good drive. |

| 1st | Cavateena Situla Scarlet for Lavril | Gold & white parti, good head with dark pigment, lovely oriental expression, she has a wide underjaw with chin, square & short muzzle, correct rounded skull, large round dark eyes. Chest is wide enough, good lay of shoulders, could do with slightly more spring of ribs but ribcage extends well back. Keeps a lovely shape on the move with good head carriage balanced with the high tail set and carriage and her level topline. |
| 2nd | Matsuba Crowning Glory At Shidizzle | A gold & white that went better as she began to warm up during the class. Good rounded skull, although would prefer it to be a little broader, eyes are of correct round shape. The front assembly is good with straight forearm and feet pointing forward. Tail is set on high, and she started to carry it as she settled, especially in the novice class. |

| 1st | Gladmin Durbans Diva For Maili | Gold sable who has a lovely overall shape, well balanced with a level topline, good lay of shoulders and return of upper-arm, correct width throughout, well sprung ribcage, although would prefer it to extend a little more back for perfection. She has a typical head and expression with wide underjaw, correct bite, muzzle is short, wide and square, the eye is well rounded. She’s in lovely coat and muscle condition and moved well keeping her shape throughout with a high set and well carried tail balancing the head carriage. BB & BOS. |

In lovely coat condition for age and liked her arrogant expression and attitude. |
