To judge the Shih Tzu at the breed championship show of the Shih Tzu Club of Scotland was a great honour. Though this time I couldn’t help feeling sadness as well. The breed haslost in recent years many irreplaceable supporters. Now Mrs L.G. Widdrington (Lhakang) is no longer with us. She was one of the pioneer breeders, who in 1939 got her first Shih Tzu from Lady Brownrigg. The Club Chairman David Anderson opened the show and a silent moment was held in memory of Mrs Widdrington. This touched me personally, as I had the honour of knowing her as friend over twenty years. At home we have two girls from the last Lhakang litter. Our sympathy goes to her family, whose loss is devastating. The hospitality of the Shih Tzu Club was overwhelming; my visit was indeed one to remember. A special thank goes to Bob Craig who managed the ring so professionally, that I could totally concentrate on the judging. The exhibitors were very sporting and the atmosphere at the show was very pleasant. |
