The first UK Shih Tzu Breed Club, formed in 1933 and recognised by the Kennel Club in 1934.

The aims and objectives of the Club are:
- To maintain the Kennel Club Standard of Shih Tzu in the UK.
- To promote and protect the interests of all Shih Tzu.
- To help, encourage and advise all Shih Tzu owners.
