This critique reflects the judge's opinion
based on what they saw on the day of the show.
| I would like to thank Windsor Canine Society for inviting me to judge our lovely breed for the second time. A huge thank you to my two stewards for keeping my ring running so smoothly. It was a lovely day weather wise and atmosphere wise.Both my challenge line ups would do ANY championship proud. My impression of the breed has positives and negatives, on the positive side temperaments were excellent, top class presentation throughout. Pleased to say no white of eye evident but did find some small eyes creeping in, this does not give the true Shih Tzu expression. Top lines were on the whole level. Both these points have improved greatly since my last judging appointment. On the negative side, construction and movement are still problematic. I found narrow chests, slab sides, lack of body and muscle tone in quite a few exhibits. Lack of forward reach and pitter patter back action instead of the desired kick back and show of full pad. Sadly such a desire for profuse coats is taking preference over construction and movement. I found a great variation in size in todays exhibits. |

| 1st | Minfaa Oh Shanandore With Sobriety | 8 months gold/white. Really nice type, lovely size for age. Excellent expression, with lovely eyes and correct nose placement. Well constructed throughout. Covered ground well, just needs to tighten a bit in front, but only a baby. Shown in good coat of correct texture, well presented. |
| 2nd | Seven and half months gold /brin/white. Profuse coated boy of larger type. Nice well placed dark eyes, very good mouth. Excellent bone. Once tail carriage settles, it will give superb balance. Very sound once settled. Well presented and compassionately handled.. | |

| 1st | Minfaa Boy George | 10 mths gold/white. Super young man. Stunning head piece, lovely large dark eyes, tip tilted nose giving a true Shih Tzu expression. Correct size for age, extremely well constructed which shows in his true movement. Good neck, excellent bone, good spring of rib and level topline. So well balanced, best of tails. Immaculate presentation as always from this kennel. TOP DRAWER BABY.Best Dog Puppy. |
| 2nd | Ch. Shalehan Yasheron | 10 months gold/brin/white. Another lovely baby. Understand he has not been with his present owner for very long. Once they gel, they could worry the best. Lovely head and expression, good large dark eyes. Best of mouths and excellent pigment. Nice arched neck, level topline and good strong bone. When he settled really covered the ground. Coming in to good coat, well presented and handled. |

Best of tail set and carriage, good bone, spring of rib and level top line. Shown in excellent coat of correct texture. Well presented and handled. |
| 2nd | Ch. Chanikos Orange Dream of Shenleyvale | 13 months gold/brin/white. Bigger type, extremely sound young man, pleasing head, dark eye. Another with good neck, rib and bone. Level top line, correct tail set and carriage. Very well constructed which shows in his sound movement. Good presentation. Very well handled. |

| 1st | Senobles Happy | 14 mths gold/white. Nice young male of smaller type. Beautiful expression, lovely dark well spaced eyes. Good pigmnet, bone and ribcage. Coat coming in nicely. Personally would prefer a slightly higher tail carriage to complete the picture. |

Excellent shape with best of tails which he holds well on the move. Good bone, rib and level topline. Shown in amazing coat. An overall very nice exhibit. |
| 2nd | Kimevan Cast A Spell | 18 mths solid gold. Exhibit of smaller type. Beautiful head piece and expression, melting large well set eyes and good pigment. Good bone and ribcage. Shown in good coat of correct texture, was outmoved by winner. |

| 1st | Laurmerand Ace Of Spades | 2 years solid black. I have admired this young man from the ringside and on having the opportunity to assess him was certainly not disappointed. Really lovely exhibit shown in top class condition. He has a superb head, gorgeous large kind eyes, correct nose placement giving a lovely expression. Graet neck, lay back of shoulders, level top line and good bone. With his correct tail set he maintains his balance standing and on the move. Covered the ground with desired strong back action. Well presented. My pleasure to award him the RCC. |
| 2nd | Shanjora’s Calisto Boy JW | 2 and half years solid gold. Another lovely young male, very close up to first. Excellent size and construction. Gorgeous fore face, beautiful full dark eyes and correct nose placement. Lots of the winners comments also apply to this young man. Very well presented. Moved very well with lots of rear drive. Well handled. |

Shown in grand coat of a correct texture. .Expertly handles and extremely well presented. Pushed hard for RCC |

He has a lovely expression, nice size eye and excellent pigment. He is well constructed throughout. Good bone, rib and top line. High set tail and carriage giving a very well balanced picture. Covered the ground positively. Well handled. |

| 1st | Ch. Weatsom Margarets Legacy for Quingshui JW ShCM | 4 years gold/white. This uoung man screams out for attention. Top class from all angles. Perfect size, so well balanced. Lovely kind expression with large full dark eyes. Excellent nose placement and dark pigment. One that really comes into his own on the move. He definitely knows how to use his muscular back end and shows a really full pad, so rare these days. Shown in full coat of desired texture. Excellent presentation. Extremely well handled. I was delighted to give him his 2nd CC and BOB, surely his crowning CC will not be long coming GOOD LUCK. |

| 1st | Shirkeira Olivia At Middletune | just 6 mnths old gold/white. I wrote down wow for this baby. Her sound powerful movement sums up the word really well. First show, What a debut. Wonderful back action showing FULL PAD. So so feminine throughout. Truly gorgeous expression. full dark eyes and desired nose placement. Correct amount of bone and good spring of rib. Excellent mouth. Shown in good coat for her tender age. Will follow her career with great interest. |

So many excellent comments have already been said about this lovely young lady. On judging her, she lived up to everything I had read and more. She certainly demands attention, she cannot be ignored from any angle. Fabulous head piece, desired nose placement, giving a really snooty expression. Large well spaced eyes, excellent dentition. Best of neck and shoulders. Good spring of rib and level topline. Powers around the ring, sound fore and aft. Amazing v oat for age of an excellent tyexture. Top drawer presentation and expertly handled. Must have a very exciting show career ahead of her which I will watch with great interest. BEST PUPPY. Thrilled to see her win UTILITY PUPPY GROUP. |

Excellent head, dark eye, uptilted nose and dark pigment. Good ribcage, level top line and correct amount of bone. Shown in excellent coat of correct texture. Another exhibit that is very sound fore and aft. Graet presentation. |

Shown in best of jackets of a correct texture, first class presentation and very well handled. Pushed extremely hard for RCC A top drawer young lady.. |

Best of mouths, large dark round eyes, tip tilted nose, giving a look at me expression that cannot be denied. Best of necks good lay back of shoulder, level top line. Exceptional tail carriage which she kept on the mive. She really motored around the ring showing excellent kick back and full pad. Beautifully presented and very well handled. | 2nd | Shanjora’s Golden Sunset | Another little girl who has previously caught my eye. She can be a tinker, playing her owner up, but when she settles, my word she really motors with style. Lovely head and forface, beautiful eyes. Good neck, rib and bone. Shown in great coat of a good condition.I am sure these two lovely ladies will change places many times. |

Nothing over flashy or over the top about her bute tonnes of quality. Gorgeous head piece, best of expressions, vey kind eyes, lovely type and size. Good neck, shoulders, good spring of rib and level top line. Extremely well balanced. Covers the ground in such a positive stylish manner. Shown in full coat of correct texture. Well handled and presented. |
