Shih Tzu Breed Notes 20th September 2026
Hi everyone, I hope you are all keeping well, after the close of Our Dogs, my breed notes will now be shared on our Shih Tzu Club website thanks to Adam Crossley, who has made this possible. The loss of the Our Dogs newspaper paper is tragic and will have a knock effect to a lot of things in the canine world. All show critiques must be posted on the RKC Judges Critiques website from now on and the website is accessible to anyone who can go online, it keeps critiques on there, so you can find them easier. Here is the link and to use it you need to register as a Judge or Exhibitor : https://kcjudgescritiques.org.uk/ The website also has a word processer so you can write directly onto it or copy and paste what you have on a word doc. etc.
My Thanks to all who have sent me open and Premier open show results for the notes, throughout the year they really help to give a better idea of what is happening around the country. A photo of the catalogue would be great and then nobody is left out. I hope to have some more show reports for the Shih Tzu club database from those judges who have not submitted them so far.
The Shih Tzu Club Database will now cover all breed club Open shows as well as the Championship shows with the help and co-operation of the breed clubs, who will hopefully pass on the critiques as well as a copy or scan of their full catalogues, this enabling me to add them to the database. I am hoping to be able to do a weekly blog on the website to continue to bring you the breed news each week.
Adam Crossley has been working really hard to upgrade the Shih Tzu Club Database to allow us to show all of the breed club open show results as well as more pedigree details and information, using an expensive software programme and a lot of time and effort. Donations would be welcomed towards the cost of the software that will make all of our experiences better using and keeping this special resource for the breed. Many thanks to Adam for all of his hard work.

The RKC Good Citizen classes The Royal Kennel Club actively encourages participation in these classes to promote responsible ownership and bridge the gap between pet training and competitive showing. These classes are open to any dog who has passed at least the bronze level good citizen’s test. but is also open to those who have worked hard and reached silver and gold levels. There are no other restrictions on the entries for this class.
Kirsty Tod has asked me to let everyone know that she is collating shows with Breed Specialists and asks if anyone finds one or is judging themselves please let her know so she can add it to her list. You can either message her on FB or send the show name date and judge to Kirsty.tod@gmail.com
If you have a new puppy or a dog that is not on the Database yet, please send me the details and pedigree etc. and I will try to enter them for you. So, the details are ready for when you are placed at a Ch show or Club Open show.
I hope we have some more contributions to give us all something interesting to read over the next few weeks, please send me your copy for inclusion in the breed notes by Sunday evening, if possible, for the following week.
Complete Show information can be found in the Kennel Club Gazette every month; this publication is available to KC members, Associate members, and Affiliated clubs.
